My wife and I have just completed a 19 day 3 country tour which was organized by Himalayan Windows Tours Kathmandu. We have been traveling internationally for over 40 years and I must say that the service provided by Himalayan Windows is second to none. Anup, the owner of the company personally took charge to adapt their standard tour to meet our interests and time the tour to allow us to attend not one but two festivals in Bhutan. On such a long tour you can expect there might be some hiccups and need to fine-tune travel arrangements. Anup was in constant contact and responded immediately to any and all changes that needed to be made. I have just returned from a fantastic trip. Firstly, Anup arranged a wonderful 2 night trip to Bhutan. Everything went very smoothly, the guide and driver were perfect, the accommodation was great and we got to see & do so much in a short amount of time, including the Tiger’s Nest, which was the highlight of Bhutan for us. I then moved onto Nepal, and Anup had arranged the flights. Once there, I decided to do the Poon Hill trek. I was so impressed with the service previously received from Anup, that I contacted him to request for him to arrange the 4-day trek. Again, everything ran very smoothly, we couldn’t have been happier. The guide and porter were again fantastic, and they really enriched our experience. At all opportunities, Anup went out of his way to help us to facilitate the trips. For instance, he picked us up personally and took us to the bus station instead of us paying for a taxi. He had our guide with him too, who it was lovely to be introduced to prior to the trek. He also arranged a tour of Kathmandu at our request, and we felt very lucky that he had arranged for our trekking guide to host us around the city, with a complimentary airport drop off provided at the end of the day. He also has links with some hotels & he can secure the most economical prices. I highly recommend Himalayan Windows, Anup and his team were a pleasure to work with, and he always responded very quickly and efficiently to any emails that I sent him. We recently used Himalayan Windows to travel to Nepal for a week. We are a family of four and took one of their cultural tours that took us to Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Nagarkot. Anup was always very helpful all the time. The communication with him was very good when we were planning for the trip; he helped us accommodate our requests and was very flexible. Once in Nepal, he was on top of everything. He received us at the airport with our tour guide and driver and then he stopped at the hotel a couple of times to make sure everything was in order. Anis, our tour guide, was amazing! He is very knowledgeable, and we learned so much from him during the week. He was also very attentive and helped with every need we had. Our driver, Ganesh, was very good too. He has very careful, and we always felt very safe with him. We highly recommend this company to help you plan your trip to Nepal.

In April 2019 we (me and my girlfriend) did a 7 days trip which started off with 2,5 days in Lhasa and some monastery’s close by and then took us over the breath-taking Tibetan highlands via the Everest basecamp to the Nepalese border, where another car picked us up to drive us to Kathmandu. This great mix between on the one hand the mysterious and still very present traditional and friendly Tibetan culture with all its rituals, monasteries, temples, and prayer flags and on the other hand the stunning view of the vast Tibetan mountains, where being over 5000m is almost normal and the top of the world only seems to be a glimpse away, is something which is worth every journey there, no matter how long it is. Best you don`t fly directly into Lhasa but acclimatize a bit beforehand, else the first days could give you a bit of a “headache”. We took the train from Beijing and had a stopover in Xining where we also did a very nice day trip into the nearby hills (up to 3800m). If you plan a similar trip, maybe try to stay one or two days longer in Lhasa and also on the road trip in the Tibetan highlands, there is plenty to see and not enough time (unfortunately we did not have these additional 2 days). One important thing why this trip was such a great experience surely was Anup and his counterpart in Tibet, Norbu. They did an absolutely amazing job organizing this whole trip, starting with the train tickets from Beijing and ending up in Kathmandu. Anup was extremely responsive throughout the whole organization phase, which helped us a lot to get a good feeling about what was coming up. Also, it was important for us to get a Tibetan guide in Tibet and not a Chinese one. You could really feel that Himalayan Windows is still a small company that engages in a personal relationship with its clients and is very concerned that they will have the best time possible – and this is worth a lot from my past experiences. I would give 6 stars if it was possible.

Highlights Helicopter flight to Everest near base camp. Anup personally going to the airport in Nepal to sort out flights requiring change due to the Iran crisis. Flights that were nothing to do with the tour. An extra unscheduled day in Nepal handled without hesitation, and refused payment for it. Coeliac disease managed throughout without a single issue. Bhutan’s bureaucracy, visas, tourist tax all seamlessly handled Details When I was looking for a tour company for a private tour of Nepal and Bhutan trip, Himalayan Windows stood out for their excellent reviews. What I didn't realise at the time was quite how far they would go when things got complicated. We were due to fly from Bhutan to Dubai after the tour, but late in the day our flights were cancelled due to the Iran crisis. We decided to reroute to Japan instead, but some self-inflicted confusion with the airline left us unable to get anything sorted. At that point, Anup — who runs the company — personally went to the airport and spent considerable time untangling the whole thing, despite those flights having absolutely nothing to do with the tour he'd been hired for. The shuffle of my flights meant that we had an extra unscheduled day back in Nepal. Not only did they agree to host me, covering pickups and an extra day touring, Anup refused to take payment for doing it. There were other things like buying us tape to hold our damaged suitcase together but the main point here is this was a remarkable level of service. In a remote country where problems arise that are nothing to do with the tour company but they take them on and fix them for you is pure gold. Back to the beginning. When I first got in touch, they worked with me to design an itinerary that fitted what I was looking for, with plenty of input on what to consider and what to leave out. We ended up with something well-tailored at a very competitive price. The tour itself was excellent. We spent three nights in Nepal and three in Bhutan, with all breakfasts included and all meals in Bhutan. The guides were always early, knew their stuff and were easy to spend time with. Flights between the two countries were handled for us, including getting us the best seats for the Everest views. On our second day in Nepal, Himalayan Windows organised a helicopter flight to stand near Everest base camp, close to the Khumbu icefall. This may not have been very cultural but it was completely mind-blowing. If you get the chance, take it. In Bhutan we hiked up to Tiger's Nest Monastery — the iconic temple perched on the cliff face. Breathtaking in every sense; the views and the climb. Bhutan comes with its own bureaucratic quirks — when we visited in March 2026, you were required to book through a government-registered company like Himalayan Windows and they handled all of it: visas, tourist tax, the lot. I have coeliac disease, which makes travel genuinely difficult in many places. It was never an issue here. Gluten-free versions of everything were arranged throughout without me having to fight for it. Communication across the whole trip was easy — WhatsApp throughout, always responsive. Himalayan Windows delivered a well-designed itinerary, excellent guides, and smooth logistics. What makes them really special is what they did for us when issues arose through no fault of theirs. I first heard of Anup and his HimalayanWindows Tours from a good friend of mine. Anup came highly recommended and he would try his best to give you the best price and provide the most appropriate itinerary for your needs. Once I arrived in Kathmandu, Anup picked us up and took good care of me and my friends. He also appointed a trusted guide and 2 great porters to accompany us on our Langtang trekking journey. Basically, once you are signed up with HimalayanWindows tours, you need not worry. Anup can accommodate most of our requests and spontaneous additional plans or tours. Thank you HimalayanWindows tours for all your help and hospitality! Most of all, thank you for your warm greetings in a country once unfamiliar to me. You made it feel like coming home. After emailing a bunch of agencies and reading endless reviews, I decided to go with Anup and his team at Himalayan Windows based on the excellent reviews. Anup replied incredibly quickly to all emails and answered my many questions succinctly. His price was also very reasonable too. I ended up booking a 10 day private tour for 2 people with him opted to exclude hotels and food. He did provide a list of recommended hotels, which was helpful. Our guide in Kathmandu was Anish and guide for the remaining 8 days was Dilip. Our driver was Sakil. Both of our guides were wonderful and shared so much information about the country- the history, religion, sights, and general life. Sometimes you get a tour guide who is clearly watching the clock and wants to finish each day as quickly as possible, the earlier the better. This was never the case for our guides. They really take pride in being a great guide. They answered all the questions we asked and even took the initiative to take us to other interesting places not on the itinerary. I especially appreciated that despite the difficult times in Nepal recently, they were both very positive and their love for their country was very apparent. On top of that, we were so well-taken care of, especially by Dilip, with whom we spent a majority of our trip. He really paid attention to what we said and went out of his way to make sure that all of our needs were met, sometimes even before we realized what we needed! When I mentioned wanting to buy a snack, he walked us to multiple shops until we found some. Even at the end of the day, when I knew he had to be tired, he was still full of energy and insisted on helping us find places to eat dinner. Some nights, I had to forcibly send him home to rest! Our drive Sakil was a really good driver and incredibly patient. The communication between guide and driver was always seamless and we never had to wait for pickup between sights. Nepal is spread out and there were some really long rides. Dilip carefully scouted out restaurants for lunch each time, even in remote towns, making sure they were clean and checking the menu before bringing us inside. Before we used the restroom, he insisted on checking it first and even cleaned some of them before sending us in. The roads in Nepal were heavily damaged by recent weather events. One night, we were stuck on the side of a mountain for 20 hours overnight. Dilip walked an hour just to find us warm food to eat. He also found us a bathroom to use at a small hotel, even though I told him I was fine using the “sky toilet” outside behind the rocks as other ladies were doing. Neither guide nor driver were able to sleep that night as the car was asked to move every 30-60 minutes. Despite that, they were so patient and cheerful. It is obviously not ideal to be stranded on a roadside overnight but we couldn’t have picked a better team to do this with. We felt safe and well-cared for. My only small issue with the tour is the use of an electric car, which I did mention to Anup at the end of the tour. In some of the towns, it was hard to find a charging station and I was worried that we would get stranded somewhere. I am grateful we had our driver Sakil, who always eventually found a charging station, but I felt badly that he had to spend extra time doing this instead of resting. Nepal is a beautiful country- especially the landscape and the temples. The people are incredibly kind too. The long bumpy rides were rough but I expected it and it was part of the adventure. The food is also incredibly inexpensive ($11 for 4 people!!!) and very fresh. The hotels were much nicer than I expected, better than many I’ve stayed at in the US. I wouldn’t recommend a self-driven tour though, especially across the country, as the roads are tough and not well-labeled. I am so glad that I ended up choosing this company and HIGHLY recommend them. The guides were among the best I’ve had on my many trips around the world. I just returned from a tour, impeccably organized by Anup and his company, of Kathmandu, Nepal and Paro/Thimphu, Bhutan. From Anup’s first timely response to my initial inquiry email to the day I departed to come home, he provided exceptional, personal customer service unlike any I have ever received before. As a solo woman traveler, I felt cared for, safe and well taken care of. Anup himself greeted me when I arrived in Kathmandu and, to my surprise, also took time out of his busy day to personally see me off on my last. I also received numerous texts and emails from him throughout my tour, as he checked up on me to be sure I was enjoying myself and that everything was going as planned. He genuinely cared about “little things” to a busy tour organizer, but that were of great importance to me, such as booking me a seat on my requested side of the plane from Kathmandu to Paro to ensure I had the chance to get that perfect picture of Mount Everest from the window (‘got it!). The tour guides and drivers that he booked for me were courteous and caring and I couldn’t have asked for better. The hotels were perfectly fine. I am happy to answer any questions that future travellers to beautiful Bhutan and fascinating Nepal may have. I very highly recommend Anup and his company, Himalayan Windows, for any tours to this part of the world.

Friend Luke and I decided to meet up half way round the world and have nearly three weeks of touring Nepal, Tibet via China and it was excellent thanks to Himalayan Windows. Anup and his team scheduled the whole thing and it was flawless from start to finish picking us up in person from airport and matching us up with guide Pratik and driver to cover the sights of Kathmandu, Chitwan, Bandipur and Pokhara. We weren't that keen on hardcore trekking but we did venture in to the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri foothills which were stunning, eventually flying back to Kathmandu and on to Tibet via Chengdu which Annup and team had sorted Visas and Guides for. Throughout the whole trip we were really impressed by Anup's attention to detail and knowledge - and also much called for flexiiloty in scheduling when our energy levels were falgging towards the end of our adventure.
