A private luxury journey through Bhutan’s timeless valleys, sacred monasteries and Himalayan landscapes.
Journey overview
The 9-Day Luxury Bhutan Tour is a private, carefully paced journey through the most beautiful cultural and natural destinations of western Bhutan. Combining luxury accommodation, private transportation, personalized guiding and meaningful cultural experiences, the itinerary is ideal for couples, families and discerning travellers looking for a comfortable yet authentic introduction to the Himalayan kingdom.
Your luxury Bhutan holiday begins at Paro International Airport, where the flight into Bhutan offers dramatic views of the eastern Himalayas on a clear day. From Paro, travel privately to Thimphu, Bhutan’s fascinating capital. Thimphu combines ancient Buddhist traditions with the country’s emerging modern identity. Visits may include Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten, the Folk Heritage Museum, traditional craft centres and the impressive Tashichho Dzong.
Continue across the prayer-flag-covered Dochula Pass, situated at approximately 3,100 metres. When the weather is clear, the pass presents sweeping views towards Bhutan’s snow-covered Himalayan peaks. Descend into the subtropical Punakha Valley, once the country’s administrative and religious centre. Here, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, walk through rural villages and enjoy a peaceful riverside setting. The warmer climate and fertile landscapes make Punakha one of the most relaxing stops on this private Bhutan tour.
The journey then travels east to Phobjikha Valley, a broad glacial valley surrounded by forested mountains. This protected conservation area is known as the winter habitat of the endangered black-necked crane. Two nights in Phobjikha provide time for the Gangtey Nature Trail, village walks, visits to Gangtey Monastery and restorative wellness experiences at your luxury lodge.
Returning west, spend the final two nights in Paro Valley. Explore Paro Rinpung Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang and the National Museum before undertaking the tour’s signature experience: the hike to Paro Taktsang, or Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Built dramatically against a cliff approximately 900 metres above the valley floor, the monastery is Bhutan’s most recognizable spiritual landmark.
Throughout this Bhutan luxury tour package, you travel with a private licensed Bhutanese guide, an experienced driver and a comfortable private vehicle. Accommodation can be arranged at properties such as Six Senses Bhutan, COMO Uma, Amankora, Pemako, Gangtey Lodge or other carefully selected luxury hotels.
With unhurried sightseeing, flexible daily arrangements and time for wellness, dining and cultural interaction, this 9-day Bhutan itinerary offers a rewarding balance between exploration and relaxation. It is particularly suitable for travellers wanting to experience the best of Bhutan in luxury without rushing between destinations.
