Yes — comprehensive travel insurance with helicopter evacuation cover is mandatory on all our trekking packages. High-altitude medical emergencies require helicopter rescue, which can cost $5,000–$15,000 USD without cover. We can recommend policies that specialise in adventure travel.

How do you prevent and manage altitude sickness?

Our itineraries follow the 'climb high, sleep low' principle with acclimatisation rest days built in. Guides carry oxygen and a pulse oximeter at all times. We also advise Diamox consultation with your doctor before the trek. If symptoms worsen, we descend immediately — safety is non-negotiable.

What is the difference between a private and a group tour?

Accepted Answer

Private tours run on your schedule with a dedicated guide and vehicle, and can be customised right up to departure day. Group departures follow fixed dates, typically 8–16 travellers, at a lower per-person cost. Both options include the same quality of accommodation and guiding.

What is typically included in a trekking package?

Standard packages include airport transfers, accommodation (tea houses or tented camps), three meals a day on trail, a licensed guide and porter, all permits, first-aid kit, and emergency evacuation coordination. International flights, travel insurance, and personal gear are excluded.

What is your payment and cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

As of September 2026, a 30% deposit confirms your booking (aligned with our booking terms). The balance is due before departure per your confirmation. Cancellations 29 days up to and including 4 calendar days before departure retain 30% of the total cost (except flights, permits, and visas). Force majeure events are handled case-by-case — see /about/booking and /about/terms for the full schedule.

What gear do I need to bring?

Key items: down jacket, waterproof shell, thermal base layers, trekking poles, sleeping bag rated to −10°C (for high routes), broken-in hiking boots, and a quality headlamp. We send a detailed packing list after booking. Most standard gear is also available to rent in Kathmandu's Thamel district.
