Journey overview
The experience at a glance
Bumthang Cultural Trek: A balanced cultural heritage of Bhutan, beautiful Himalayan landscapes, and a great trekking adventure will be a perfect combination of Bhutan's cultural diversity in the Best of Bhutan. Then, by way of a well-organised 12-day trip, we will travel through Bhutan's most famous sights and to the peaceful valleys of Bumthang, the spiritual heart of the kingdom, where ancient monasteries, traditional villages, and untouched mountain views will give us the most memorable travel experience.
Your adventure starts in Paro with a memorable hike to the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery, Bhutan's most sacred and photographed landmark. Then proceed to Thimphu and over the beautiful Dochu-La Pass to Wangdue Phodrang and Trongsa, where the mountains, imposing fortresses and Bhutanese culture are really part of the experience.
In Bumthang, explore the historic Jakar Dzong and sacred temples before embarking on a '3-Day cultural trek' through one of Bhutan’s most beautiful regions. The trail winds through forests of blue pine, peaceful meadows, traditional farming communities and remote monasteries as you walk from Bumthang to Ngang Lhakhang and Ugyenchholing before returning to Jakar. As you cross the pretty Phephe La Pass (3,600m), you will see the panoramic Himalayan views and understand the life of rural Bhutan.
This itinerary is perfect for a slow hike on a gentle journey and Bhutan’s most celebrated cultural tourism. Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) are the best seasons to visit and are the best for nice temperatures, clear mountain views, and colorful festivals.
The Best of Bhutan with Bumthang Cultural Trek offers a great experience of ancient monasteries, amazing mountains, Bhutanese hospitality, and good people. This trek offers a meaningful journey that balances cultural exploration, beautiful trekking, and memorable Himalayan experiences that will not be forgotten over the course of 12 days.
