Annapurna Base Camp Trek/Annapurna Sanctuary Trek
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of Nepal's most popular and scenic treks. The route follows past lush green hills, subtropical villages, and dense rhododendron forests, all the way up to the awe-inspiring view of the majestic peaks of the Annapurna Massif from Annapurna Base Camp.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek, also called the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek generally starts and ends in the bustling city of Pokhara, with a primarily gradual ascent of around 1,500 meters/4,900 feet. Along the way, trekkers will pass through several different ethnic communities, such as Gurung and Thakali, which give the region its unique cultural charm.
ABC trek Days generally start early to make the most of the day’s trek, but the average trekking time is 5-6 hours each day. At night, basic accommodation is provided in the form of mountain lodges or guesthouses. The most popular areas to visit include Ghorepani, Poon Hill, and Annapurna Base Camp itself.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is relatively easy to moderate in terms of difficulty, but the high altitude can be challenging if not prepared for it. However, the spectacular landscapes and stunning views of the snow-capped peaks make the trek well worth the effort.
