This morning, take one of the most rewarding short hikes in Bhutan—the beautiful Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. After a short drive from Punakha, take a leisurely trek through rice terraces and peaceful villages until you reach the hilltop temple. The hike takes about one hour uphill, rewarding you with stunning views of Punakha Valley, Mo Chhu River, and nearby mountains. Built by the Queen Mother, it is a special temple dedicated to peace and the protection of Bhutan. Back in Punakha, continue sightseeing with Chimi Lhakhang, also referred to as the Temple of Fertility, in memory of the mythic Divine Madman, Lama Drukpa Kunley. Visitors enjoy a pleasant walk through traditional villages and rice fields to experience rural Bhutanese life.
